About Us

Luci McDowell

bio4Luci opened Precious Paws Pet Sitting in July, 2005. Her family has always had pets of some kind, whether it was cats, dogs, rabbits, lizards, or mice. Luci contributes the success of Precious Paws to the outstanding pet sitters she has working for the company and the excellent individualized service given to each client and their pets.

Luci states, “Without the excellent pet sitters I have, Precious Paws wouldn’t be the success it is today. I consider my clients’ pets my step-pets. When one suffers, I suffer along with them. The business continues to grow due to each of us providing excellent customer service. We build relationships with our clients that are very special.”

Luci recently retired from Sedgwick County. When not pet sitting, she enjoys spending time with her four grandsons and a great-grandson. Luci adds, “I’m blessed that I have my family’s support with my business. They are always willing to make accommodations for me during birthdays, holidays, etc. to make sure my clients’ needs are met.” Luci currently fosters dogs for Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL). She covers all areas of the Wichita metro area.

Caryn Kuker

bio1Caryn started working with animals in the early 2000’s at Wag’en Tail Ranch in Valley Center. Around the same time, she started pet sitting for Comfort Zone Pet Care. When the owner decided to sell the business, she followed Luci after she started Precious Paws Pet Sitting.

Because she has always loved animals, Caryn earned a BS in Zoo Science from Friends University 2005 and began working at the Fort Worth Zoo. She started her family while in Texas.  In 2007, Caryn moved back to Kansas and was eager to start pet sitting again while working at the Sedgwick County Zoo.

Caryn has joked that she would have her own zoo if she could, and that couldn’t be any closer to the truth. She has had lizards, mice, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, and the list goes on. Currently her family has 2 dachshunds, 3 dalmatians and a tortoise.

Caryn is a wonderful mother to 3 young and rambunctious boys that keep her busy when she’s not taking care of other “fur babies”. They have grown to love animals as much as she does and enjoys when they get to tag along on a visit to the animals.

Her favorite experience that has happened while pet sitting is helping a mother goat birth a set of twins. She arrived after the first baby was born and just assisted for the second. Caryn adds, “All of the animals I take care of hold a special place in my heart and I truly care for all of them and miss them when they move along to the Rainbow Bridge or to other locations with their families.”

Caryn covers primarily south Wichita, west Wichita, Derby, Haysville, and Mulvane for Precious Paws.

Chris Gunderson

bio2Chris has lived in Wichita for over 30 years and has been a pet sitter since 2000.  She was the east side pet sitter for Happy at Home Pet Care while also working at Wall’s Seed. In 2005, she started working for Precious Paws Pet Sitting. These jobs have kept her busy thru the 14 years.

Chris says, “I have enjoyed all my “pets” and clients as well. They are a big part of my life and I care deeply for them, as well as their owners. Some I see and take care of many times during the year, others maybe just once or twice, but it’s always nice to catch up with the ones that I haven’t seen a lot. If I could write a book, there would be many funny stories, and I am sure all the pet sitters out there could do the same.”

Chris and her husband have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren, and feel extremely blessed. Currently, she has 2 dogs and 6 pet birds. Chris has taken care of practically everything, including rabbits, fish, ferrets, reptiles, snakes, spiders, and of course cats and dogs. One of her passions was pet birds, i.e. breeding and hand-feeding them and it was always hard to let them go. But if they were getting a good home, Chris feels the hard work was worthwhile and that’s what counts.

Chris serves east Wichita and Andover.
